How much does a KITCHEN REMODEL COST?
More often than not, you'll be investing $25k to $50k into a kitchen remodel. Each kitchen remodel is unique so some could be as low as $15k and others $100k plus.
A big portion of the budget is determined by your selections. The cost of the cabinets, countertops, and appliances. Also, is the plan to go back in the same footprint? Or will the layout be changing?

Will using RTA (Ready to Assemble) Cabinets save money?
Part of the reason why RTA cabinets are less is because the company hasn't incurred the cost of assembling them. From a strictly cost of materials perspective, you typically can get a cabinet for less or a better quality cabinet for the same cost.
Ultimately, will they save you money comes down to who will be assembling the cabinets. If you'll be assembling them yourself, we would anticipate it saving you money.
If the contractor will be assembling them, it will most likely cost more overall.

Should we have an island? THREE things to keep top of mind!
1. What is the purpose of the island?
Will it add needed prep space, storage, or seating? Don’t add an island just because it’s trendy, make sure it solves a problem.
2. Is there enough space for an island?
The rule of thumb is 36" to 42" on all sides of the island. For areas where there may be two people working, you'll want 42".
3. What is the main role of the island?
Is the island mainly going to be used as prepping space, cooking, dining, homework, entertaining? Design the island based off the primary role it will serve vs trying to design it to be perfect for all of it's roles.

Should we just PAINT the current CABINETS?
In most situations, I advise against painting the cabinets. Will it initially cost less to just paint the cabinets, Yes!
But, for not much more you can have a better final product.
To properly paint the cabinets to make it less likely for the paint to chip and flake off there is a tremendous amount of prep work. We advise to apply a deglosser then lightly sand then apply a high bonding primer and then paint the cabinets.
This ultimately results in being able to see some brush strokes in the finish. Also, some wood grain cabinets don't really look "textured", but once they're painted you still see the wood grain in the doors. To have them smooth, requires more prep work.
If you're planning to replace the countertop, new backsplash, etc. We always advise to just replace the cabinets.
When do we advise to paint the cabinets?
If you're not planning to replace the countertop and view it as a 3-5 year stop gap. It may make sense to just paint the cabinets.
